Using both art and long-form journalism we hope to evoke a conversations about our global food scene. We hunger for bits that make us think, delight, invoke change or even laugh; be it big or small; what will make difference in how this we think about food.
We take written submissions both for features (which range from 1,000 to 3,000 words, but generally run about 1,500) and for Insider Notes, which are generally 200 to 400 word shorts on smaller tidbits like little-known books, events, people, ingredients, products, places, menu items, or odd food factoids that deserve their day in the sun which impact of our food from a local to global.
Note that W-E Digest style is high energy with a strong sense of humor, and a bit of sophistication balanced by facts. If possible, please send samples —including links to blog posts — that show you’re capable of going beyond a basic report.
